Established in 1917, Fort Meade is an army installation named after George G. Meade, a U.S. Civil War general and Army of the Potomac commander. Fort Meade is located between Washington, DC and Baltimore. It is recognized for housing the headquarters of the National Security Agency, but is also home to the Defense Information School, US Cyber Command headquarters, and Defense Information System headquarters.
