Lackland AFB, TX

Lackland AFB is a United States Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. In October 2010, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base, and Army Fort Sam Huston combined to form Joint Base San Antonio. Lackland is the only site for basic military training of non-prior service Airmen, training for the Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Reserve. Lackland AFB was named after Brigadier General Frank Lackland. The base also provides professional and technical skills for students from 117 other countries to help them with the English language at the Defense Language Institute. 802d Mission Support Group is Lackland’s garrison unit.
