MacDill AFB, FL

MacDill is a United States Air Force Base located south of Tampa, Florida. The host unit is the 6th Air Mobility Wing, assigned to operate KC-135R Stratotanker and C-37A Gulfstream V aircraft, as well as support more than 3,000 personnel, 50 mission partners, and 12,000 additional personnel. The 6th Air Mobility Wing supports the United States Central Command, United States Special Operations Command, Special Operations Command Central, and United States Africa Command. NOAA’s Aircraft Operations Center is also located in MacDill. When MacDill opened in 1941, the base’s first mission included training Airmen in the B-17 Flying Fortress and B-26 Marauder aircraft.
