Marine Corps Base Quantico is primarily a training base known as the “Crossroads of the Marine Corps.” This United States Marine Corps installation is located in Prince William County, Virginia and was first built in 1917. MCB Quantico is home to the U.S. Marine Corps’ Combat Development Command, which makes up 12,000 military and civilian personnel, the Marine Corps Officer Candidates School, the Marine Corps Research Center, which develops telecommunications equipment for the Marine Corps, and the Marine Corps Brig, a military prison. The training centers for the FBI Academy and Drug Enforcement Administration are also located at MCB Quantico. Quantico was designated as a U.S. National Register of Historic Places, Historic District, and Virginia Landmarks Register.
