3M Earplug Class Action Settlement

In July 2018, the Department of Justice announced that Minneapolis-based 3M Company (3M) agreed to pay $9.1 million to resolve allegations that it knowingly sold the dual-ended Combat Arms Earplugs, Version 2 (CAEv2), to the United States military without disclosing defects that hampered the effectiveness of the hearing protection device.  Due to the defective design, the earplugs have been shown to loosen slightly and subtly move out of the ear canal just enough for loud sounds to cause hearing damage.  3M knew of these design defects, but knowingly sold them to the US military from 2003-2015.

Service members and combat veterans have reported multiple side effects including:
          – Hearing loss
          – Tinnitus, or ringing in the ears
          – Permanent hearing damage
           – Deafness

JAG Defense has affiliated with a well-known law firm to assist affected service members and veterans in joining the class action settlement to receive compensation for their injuries.
