29 Palms MCB is located in the Southern Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County, California. It is home to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, the world’s largest Marine Corps training base. First established during World War 2, the MCAGCC’s mission is to conduct urban operations, construct live-fire training combined with arms training, and promoting operational forces readiness by Joint/Coalition level integration training. The training includes many live-fire field operations, artillery, tank, and close air support training, in addition to “Combat Town,” a replica of a Middle Eastern village, which incudes a mosque, native role-players, and other immersive touches. This training is to prepare the units for deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan.
