Fort Lewis, WA

Fort Lewis is a United States Army I Corps located in Tacoma, Washington. In 2010, the fort merged with McChord Air Force Base to form Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Established in 1917, Fort Lewis was originally a military post, which later became a full United States Army and Air Force installation. The base’s location west of the Rocky Mountains is a strategic location for training and mobilization, as well as for conducting combat and humanitarian airlift. The mission of Joint Base Lewis-McChord is to enable soldiers as they train to protect our country, and to be a station of choice for the Americans in service and their families.
