Marine Corps Base Hawaii is located on the Mokapu Penninsula of windward O’ahu in Honolulu. The base is home to the 3^rd Marine Regiment, Marine Aircraft Group 24, Combat Logistics Battalion 3, 3^rd Radio Battalion, and the Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 2 in the Navy. Marines, sailors, families, and civilian employees are residents at MCB Hawaii. The base was built in 1919 between Kailua and Kãne’ohe, the two largest windward O’ahu communities. On December 7, 1941, MCB Hawaii, then Naval Air Station Kaneohe Bay, was attacked 9 minutes before the attacks on Pearl Harbor.
