McGuire Air Force Base, also known as Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, is located in Burlington County of New Jersey and originated in 1941 as Fort Dix Army Air Force Base. McGuire AFB is home to the 87th Air Base Wing, the 305th Air Mobility Wing, the USAF Expeditionary Mobility Task Force, 108th Air Refueling Wing and he 514th Air Mobility Wing. McGuire was named after Major Thomas B. McGuire, Jr., who was a Medal of Honor recipient. The mission of McGuire AFB is to support troop, passenger, equipment, cargo, and mail transportation, as well as to provide aerial refueling globally.
